Anyone know any private instructors in D.C. area

Does anyone know any orchestral/private instructors in the D.C. area? I have taken lessons with some outstanding military band players but I want to take a few lessons from the orchestral standpoint. I am not sure how to find out who teaches around here. There are so many incredible musicians in this area and I would hate to let any learning oppurtunities pass by while I am here.

I would recommend Larry Bocaner, retired National Symphony bass clarinetist, or Bill Wright, retired NSO Eb clarinetist/saxophonist --- and even if they're too busy to take on a new student, they would certainly be a good starting point for referrals to other good classical instructors.

Try contacting:

Merlin Petroff, a Juilliard grad., former principal clarinet with the band in Wash.D.C., and an extra with the National Orch. in Washington, also an incredible photographer!
Merlin is at:

Merlarts@aol.com

Good luck, he's a busy guy.

A little further out.....Marguerite Baker - professor at Towson State University, Maryland. She is with the Fairfax Symphony, Baltimore Opera + other ensembles.

A liitle bit closer in....Try reaching out to the Levine School of Music. (DC and VA) They are bound to have clarinet faculty on staff with orchestral/chamber experience.

Just go from the top. If youc all someone from the top like the principal of the national symphony, they can atleast refer you in the right direction.
