On March 8 I posted that I had a LL that didn't mic out at the published bore specs. It came out at .574. I ended up taking Henry's advice and called Leblanc. After two calls to Dave Surber at Leblanc we still aren't sure what I've been playing for the last 40 yearsexcept that it was probably bored for one thing and misstamped as a LL. The 60's catalogues don't mention the bore numbers. The only four wood Leblancs being made in 1964 were the LL(.582) , the 476(bore like a LL) the 1476 which is the Symphonie 4 and the Dynamic H( a large bore) . Dave said the Sym 4 bore is the same as the Sym 3 and that would be around .574. However, the terminus of the tenon on the lower joint where it goes into the bell on the Sym 3 mics out at .896. On my mystery clarinet, it mics out to .859 and is visually smaller than the Sym 3. I would appreciate it if someone who owns a Sym 4 would mic the bore at the bottom where it enters the bell. This is a bit tricky since the bore is flaring out as a cone and if you get inside the least little bit you get a smaller dimension. You have to get right on the edge of the end of the bore. This number would help me determine what I have. Thank's!
