Well, while at TMEA I was introduced to a new (to me anyway) Buffet offering. The "Limite" as I was told is "similar" to the R-13. It comes with silver plate keys standard. It is supplied with a 64 mm barrel. I asked if the difference was made up in the body length and again was told "no" that the instrument was designed for the "younger" player in mind. (I guess that means a barrel upgrade later--but why not teach how to play with good intonation from the start?). The price difference is only $100 less than the R-13 so I don't understand the marketing strategy on this one. The clarinet has a "K" prefix to the serial number and I asked if that was a throw back to the Master Model and older E-13 numbers. I was told "no". I'm supposed to be getting one to play test shortly so I'll let you know my opinions of the instrument later. Is there anyone out there that has already tried one?

John I saw this at TMEA as well this last Saturday, but not at the music group table but at a private booth, I also noticed the K prefix and I just thought it was a new marketing scheme to popularize the E-13 which i still believe uses the K prefix, I dunno if that helps but i was wondering the same thing

Dain,
Yes, it was being "premiered" by the folks at H&H, Brook Mays, et al. However, all my information was gathered at the Music Group exhibit through my region sales representative. I'm supposed to be getting one for evaluation purposes (not to keep).

Cool let me know if they are the E13 or close to an r13 this has peeked my interest... I played it while i was there with my mouthpiece, I have trouble distinguishing the E13 and say Vintage model R13 by just playing on it without a quiet area or tuner...curious

I tried one of these from an Austin rep of Brook Mays when Texas State hosted it's annual Hill Country Jazz Festival... As a college clarinet player I was intrigued... and sadly disappointed.
As yyou have said, the "Limite" seems close to an E13, and it feels the same way, having been made in Germany. To me, there was no comparison to my BMays bought R13. The sound felt stuffy, and the keywork reminded me of the E11 I played on in high school for about 3 years.
Not to say the horn itself wasn't gorgeous to look at, but playing on the one I did was a bit of a let down.

K prefix means made by Keilwerth or in other words Shreiber. Probably just the C13 model rebadged. They have never proved popular because they are not quite an R13 but better than the E13.

The E-11 comes standard silver plated keys and I'm thinking the bbl is shorter than 66mm. Sounds like another marketing ploy.
