"A preceeding F in the serial number indicates a clarinet made for the European market"
I have a buffet A clarinet and dont know what kind it is.
the serial number of the clarinet in question is F116889, which puts the clarinet at 1970 as far as when it was made. But what model is it? The quote above from the searial # listing, and I guess it should help, but I don't know what it means to be "made for the European market" and I still have know idea what kind it is.
It plays well, except that is ALWAYSE sharp, so I have to really press on the read to kind of play in tune, and some regesters are sharper than others.
Any information would be wonderfull!

The F in the serial number indicates that the instrument is tuned to A442-444. That explains the sharp clarinet, but this can often be accomodated in a normal tuning regimen. As far as I know, 1970 models without additional markings were R13's.
