Turn up for my occasional dep 1st at a local orchestra, and the conductor hands out Fingal's Caff.

I'm delighted. I've never actually played this before in company, but everyone and their dog knows the duet. A masterpiece of elegant simplicity that plays as if it was written specifically for the clarinet. Er... which it was of course.

Except I don't know quite know it by heart, and some madman has written "Clarinet in B-flat" on the part. And meant it.

It's obvious why, but if ever something unbroken was fixed needlessly, this has to be it.
