 NYC Met Openings???

At a rehearsal last evening, my co-player said that he had been invited to audition for the Metroploitan Orchestra on Dec 5th. Are there openings--have I had my head in the sand and missed something? Not interested, but just wonder'n.

Yes - principal, possibly 2 openings.

Jon Manassee was acting principal for this season as he replaced ricardo morales. I have also heard that the other long time co-principal is going to retire thus officially leaving two openings. I have a strong inclination though that Mr. Manassee would have a strong favor with in the group because he was there for a year and from what I have heard has done more than a fantastic job, but a brilliant work with the met. I wouldn't be surprised if he won or was appointed principal to the the met.
