Mark: Is it permissible to ask this question? I have a screaming need for a lead sheet of Cat Stevens' "Morning Has Broken". Please respond off-board if you can help to <chuckroop@earthlink.net>. Thank you, Chuck

VEGEMITE JINGLE??? You could have avoided mentioning that, you scurvy cur. GBK, you have done it again, and this is the last straw. I am no longer responsible for my actions when in your vicinity. You have been warned.
Warmest personal regards,
John

Morning Has Broken is now in the Baptist Hymnal, and probably in a number of others as well. A friend involved in church music may be able to help you out.

"Vegemite". For those not acquainted with this "foodstuff", in a pinch you can pack Lorry wheel-bearings with it. The taste is indescribable!

Vegemite - I was introduced to the stuff by a Canadian friend who had spent several years in Papau New Guinea. We used to use it in soups, but she said people would spread it on toast! Somehow it finds a respectible place on the shelves in a popular grocery store chain here in Canada.

As an aussie and a indigenous Vegemite eater ... I must say that I do eat it on toast: with butter (not margarine) and a tiny smearing - enough to cover your thumbnail is plenty for me.

[ Folks...Let's not let the Vegemite thing get out of hand. We've been down that road before. Let's try to stay on topic...GBK ]

Do a google search for Olga Index and click the I'm Feeling Lucky box. At the top of the page there is an alphabet. Click on the letter S and scroll down to Cat Stevens. The On Line Guitar Archive is a great site for chords and lyrics to pop tunes especially classic rock.

If "Blackbird has spoken" in the Presbyterian Hymnal, then it's the same song. I'm about as thrilled as Cat is.

Actually, the tune is a traditional. People just really remember the way Cat did it.

Will this attention "popularize" Morning H B like performances by wind players have done for A Closer Walk, Amazing Grace, Stranger on the Shore [have we ever heard the words??] and other sentimentals. Friends have played these in church, solo w: piano/organ! Don
Thanx, Mark, Don
