Can anyone tell me about this model? Couldn't find it mentioned when I searched the BB.

C.H.,

My Leblanc Dynamic 2 is a Model 776. It was made in the 1950s as far as I can figure out. Any other name on the clarinet?

I called Leblanc about a clarinet about a month ago. It had a serial number 25xxx (I think) and they said it was a 476, similar in design to an LL, but a little lesser grade. I have noticed model 476 clearly stamped on some Ebay clarinets.

Call Leblanc and they could probably tell you by serial number, although early records (pre-mid 60's) seem poor.

C H, EUREKA, I knew I had seen LeBlanc 476 somewhere, and looking thru old LeB brochures found it, dated by me as 1961! [maybe 1958?] . Its here named the "Classic" model [I gave my CA grandson one!!], and is shown below in the brochure to {similar??] 1176, {LL model, series}, and 1276 Dynamic H{big 15mm bore} [same? as the earlier Dynamic 2, have one], for "UNDER $300". LeB sure did have a lot of model names in the 50-80 time period for differing bores, keying and maybe tuning, ask Tom Ridenour!! A side note from a same-period catalog, is the Lowry-Design Register Key, an elongated, to the right, "touch" [like some sax octave keys!], which we had discussed earlier!! Research is fun, rite?? Don

Thanx, Mark, Don

Thanks all!

Don, I love that treasure trove of brouchures & catalogs you have.

So it sounds like a 476 was a lower-level but still professional grade horn from 40+ years ago, eh?

Hank, do you like your 476 and is it your main instrument?

C.H.

I have the 776 (my Dynamic 2) and it is my main instrument when absolutely precise pitch is not paramount. Then I use my Selmer 9*; it is right on but I like the Dynamic 2 better.

It is nice to have two clarinets that are so good!

I've overhauled some Classic and Classic II clarinets and they seem to be good performers. High intermediate or entry level professional grade.
