A. Iowa is a wonderful State to live in.
B. Who said (statistics??/proofs) they had.
C. Just re-read this. Do you mean a degree in ANYTHING, or a degree in Music. Undoubtedly many who have a degree from Iowa also play clarinet. Doesn't everybody?

ok...well, I didn't go there, but my parents, and both of my aunts did. My mom, her one sister, and my dad all went for music ed. They got a good education. My mom and sister both were from Iowa, and my dad did his grad work (and met my mom there...aw). They claimed it was a good school. Also the dean of my music school went there. Don't know about the clarinet faculty, but I know Hamie Voxman (Rubank author) teaches there...and I sat next to him at their band reunion in the 4th grade. although at the time I didn't know him or how important he was. oh well.

Because they have a good music school. Because of the many things I have heard about the clarinet professor there, I would personally choose to attend another university but everyone is different.

Ok Katfish, I give up. Where do you "surf" in Ames?
And I'd skip the Sushi in August.

My Clarinet teacher went there and studied with Himie Himself. Her hustband (horn player) went ther and so did one of my other professors who specializes in Music Ed. Strange stuff but I guess when a living legend is part of the faculty what can you do? (well used to be part of the faculty). I would not recommend living in this part of the country though, the weather is crappy. I got 3 hours of sleep last night because of the weather. The tornado siren went off 3 times in our town...... I am from California I am not used to this! Well have a nice afternoon.

Bob; Iowa State is in Ames, Iowa is in Iowa City. When the wind is right the waves on Lake MacBride reach a foot and a half. The sushi in August is terrific. That's when the fresh carp from the Iowa river is plentiful. Actually I was kidding about the sking, surf. and sushi. Also you have to be a masochist to enjoy the weather. The other points I am serious about. Mr. Voxman just had his 90th birthday last September. Unfortunately I couldn't go to the party as I was in Arizona at the time. He is truely a remarkable human being

It's a great state and a great school and it's in the middle of the country. I think they have great wrestlers too. Hilly country is great for biking. Yes, you're right the catfish are not imported which is a big plus. Temperature hovers around 70 all year round. Only partly kidding because I really think Iowa is great.

Yeah right about the temperature, it sucks and where I was from before I was here was actually like that, so yes I do know what I am missing!
