I live in New York currently, and I have found a problem. I have not yet gotten a hygrometer, but when I open my case and start assembling my clarinet, I sort of "feel" that the clarinet is waterlogged or something, and it plays accordingly bad, too. This only seems to happen in my house, as it is fine in school or anywhere else. I'm not sure I want a 24/7 dehumidifier in the house, so any other ways to lower the humidity in the whole case? I'm moving soon to an even more humid place(subtropical island nation), so I'm afrad that this will become an even bigger problem. Exactly how would I go about decreasing this annoying humidity?

Here's what I do. I go down to the local pharmacy (it helps , but is not required, if you know the pharmacist). Ask for the little desicant cans.
Many medications come in large bottles with desicant canisters inside. The pharmacist repackages the medications for the customers and then they throw the canisters away.
When I went in they had just gotten rid of a bag of them so they asked me to come back later in the day and gave me six or seven free. Alternatively I think that Omar (the "Doctor") sells them fairly reasonably. My free ones have been working fine for a year now. When they stop working I will go down and get some more.
IMHO, Terry
