Hi everyone,
What do you people use for your A clarinets.
I always use VD mps, currently a B45 lyre with my Bflat (will probably be changing to B45profile); it works OK with the A instrument, but does not speak nearly as well and is MUCH more tiring.
Have tried my B40 standard VD but the result it rther weak tone and less control.
Any suggestions please??
Thanks in advance

It sounds like you are quite unhappy with the sound and set up you currently use. a
as for the B40 it gets a pretty large full sound, so I am wondering whether or not it is the reed/instrument/or your embouchure.
The M30 is quite a nice sounding piece, and in my own personal trials like its round sound.
Maybe your should have a teacher who is professional on the clarinet check into you A insturment and have him/her investigate what is going down.
There are alot of mouthpiece makers out there, so just having a separate piece designed for the A seems like a waste.
I would stick to one mouthpiece for both clarinets. If one instrument is playing too resistant (the A)than make a repair tech adjust it so it plays like the Bb...
Just some ideas...Good Luck!

Thanks for your comment David.
Have just been up to Paris and spent a long time with both clarinets mainly on Vandoren B45 DOT PROFILE AND VRD LYRE.
i SLIGHTLY PREFERRED THE vrd lyre FOR THE BFLAT BUT THE BEST OVERALL RESULT WAS WITH THE B45 DOT PROFILE - beautiful, dark mysterious bass and great ease of omission in the clarion and altissimo (although I was using MLurie strength 3 reeds). Will be trying this 3.5 soon.
