Anyone out there brave enough to tackle this piece? I think it ranks up their with the Nielsen and Corigliano as far as difficulty go... I have Phillip Cuper playing... very wonderful... i'm loving the last movement!

Gervase de Peyer performed the Concerto in the 1980s with the Melos Ensemble. The conductor for our concert was Francaix himself.
Gervase played great, and the orchestral clarinet parts were also quite challenging!
Have fun with the piece,

When I was in college, it was suggested by my teacher to get this piece. I worked on it for a few weeks until one day in a fit of rage I took it off my stand and threw it in the garbage!! I have never tried to play something so hard. I also have the Cuper recording; I bought it much later after my fit. Sometimes I listen to part of it; it is a little amusing.
BTW---How do people tackle the piano part that has 4 staves?

Four Stave piano parts are (surprisingly) common - it's all about pedal work, essentially.
