is my new selmer reed case defective?

I ordered a Selmer reed case from Music 123--- the glass inside the case starts level but slants downwards. Is this normal or is my case defective? If the slant is normal, which way do I put the reeds in ? (I suppose this slant is called a bevel?) Thanks!

It is normal.......the tip of the reed goes on the shallow end of the glass so that warping is discouraged by pressure on the area....that is the reason for the slant.
It is a nice case for the money.

Agreed, that that is normal. According to Selmer (I had the same question and e-mailed them.), the tip of the reeds are closest to the open, or latching, side of the case; the bottom/butt/thick end of the reeds are closest to the hinged side of the case.
