About 5 weeks ago, I wrote to this board as a new-comer to both the board and to the clarinet. You all gave me such wonderful advice and encouragement on this horn and I wanted to thank you. I love this instrument!!!!! I appreciate every sound I make out of it and I have to say it is the most expressive instrument I have ever played. I play guitar, drums, bass, a little piano, a little mandolin and I sing and this here horn is the most expressive instrument I know (outside of singing). My goal is to be able to play Stormy Weather by the end of the year. I just have to figure it out or get some sheet music for it. BTW, there is a program out there for the computer called Amazing Slow Downer. It is very helpful.

Forgot to ask a question...
Does anybody know an easy clarinet piece that involves violin and clarinet together? Classical would be preferred. I have a buddy that plays a mean fiddle and we want to both learn a tune over the next few months so the next time we are together we can play something other than rock n bluegrass on our other instruments. Thanks in advance.

Rocky,
Duo for violin and clarinet at a beginner or intermediate levels are pretty difficult to find. I was looking for some myself for a friend fiddler of mine and me, and I ended up buying a set of easy duets for clarinet and... flute! It has many very fine tunes from Mozart (son & father), Haendel, Bach and many others and the flute score is easily readable for a violin. Good luck.
Stéphane.
After you've heard a work by Mozart, the silence that follows, this is still by Mozart.

rockymountainbo...Stéphane's suggestion is a good one. He may be referring to the Voxman flute/clarinet duet books.
The particulars: Voxman "Seventy-Eight Duets for Flute and Clarinet" Vol. 1 and 2 (Rubank #196 and #197)
These are not expensive. (well, that's a pleasant surprise) Volume 1 is Easy-Medium, and should have many selections that are at the level you need.
Good luck!!...GBK

GBK,
Many thanks for posting the duet book details, I was about to repost those details myself when I saw your posting (and still impressed that, as usual, you know everything!).
