 Bell Tarnish
Author: Sara

I bought my festival brand new a couple of months ago in July and there's always been this ring around the bell thats not shiney like the rest of the silver plating. My teacher told me to try regular tarnish remover but it doesn't work. Could it be something besides tarnish, because I know the way it sounds is most important but I'd like for it to look good too. Any suggestions of anything I could try to get rid of it?

Somebody told me that the reason the bell is yellowish colored is that it is some type of gold. Who knows? And oh, do you have that tiny little knick on the bell ring that nobody can explain?

Sara,
Try Brasso on the bell ring, apply a bit with a soft cloth, rub for a couple of minutes, then wipe off completely with a clean soft cloth (an old cotton T-shirt works great). If you happen to slop a bit on the wood, it won't hurt it, as long as you wipe it completely when you're done. You'll have to do this periodically to keep it shiny.

Fisrt of all- To Albert, I have noticed that little nivck, also you know how they say they sheck for chips in the wood and cracks etc...? Well there's a chip in the wood on the back of my beell and it gets on my nerves, because you know you always want everything perfect.
To Davve- I'm sorry but I have no idea what Brasso is.

the buffet bell ring is less shiny compare to
other keys and rings even when it is brand new.
it is because of the material.. you worry tooooo much

Sara - Brasso and Silvo can be found at most supermarkets and some smaller 'mom & pop' stores in their household section. They both work well on non precious metals. That's about as good as it gets depending, as mentioned above, on the metal. Use in a well ventilated area.
