I have yet another silver clarinet, I understand the value is probably very low, but I would like to at least know what manufacturer this instrument is.
It is a two piece, like most, it has NO LOGO or markings anywhere except for the serial number above the octave key, that says "D2171".
It is brass, with a nice thick silver plating on it.
The mouthpiece cover says "ade in france" with no (m) apparently ever stamped on the label (doesnt look warn off).
I have read all serial number histories I could find, with nothing close. Someone once said it might be an Eb clarinet, I play tenor sax, so I am lost...someone help?
Thanks

With this small amount of information, it will be impossible to determine the maker. There were hundreds if not thousands of small manufacturers over the years.
To get a handle on the type of clarinet (Bb, Eb, etc)
Bb clarinet - approx 26.5" when assembled with mouthpiece but no mouthpiece cover
A clarinet - slightly over 27" when assembled with mouthpiece but no mouthpiece cover.
Eb soprano - I'm not sure of the length but quite a bit less than 26" with mouthpiece but no cover
Eb alto - approximately the size and shape of an alto sax but skinnier.

Although I hate to see them made into lamps, they do look unnique. Next time you have your measuring tape out, go over and measure it from the bell to the tip of the mouth peice. If I remember right it should be about 27" long for a Bb soprano and about 8" less for a little Eb "Eeffer".

From your description, it's obviously a Duesenberg Model SJ lamp from around 1932, which was a very expensive and excellent clarinet lamp in its time. Perhaps you should sell it on eBay?
