Not too long ago I saw one listing that did in fact say "includes vintage cork grease." (one of those little round tins) I'm not sure if that was worse than the one that actually had a photograph of the broken, chipped reeds that came with the clarinet.

The ad reads "it speaks for itself." I listened but couldn't hear it say a thing!

A round tin of ancient cork grease is a real selling point

I have a button-shaped tin of genuine MICRO cork grease that came with a soprano recorder bought in 1949. It's never been opened (though I've tried). What am I bid for this Antiques Road Show treasure?

Omar, please reverse the click-retrieval arrows. Reading hastily, I thot it was a clar, searched "antique cl" 8 retrieved, searched "vintage cl" 82!! retrieved, badly overused word!, since many were just old Boehms and metals, a few collector horns. Also have Vibratoe Reeds! Don <EBAY2504003688> sufficient?

I've still got about 6 tubes of the old purple (grape) Vandoren cork grease.

Eventhough Doc's stuff is far superior, I keep a tube of the purple Vandoren grease in my case, just for the aroma...GBK<img src="http://www.stopstart.freeserve.co.uk/smilie/hippy.gif">

I had asked a while back to keep the eBay stuff off the BBoard (even the humorous ones); I let this one slide on purpose, but, please, don't ask for someone to post the link even clearer!

eBay items aren't to be posted right now; if you come across something that's really funny and want it posted please clear it with me first.

Also, Sorry, Mark, will cease and desist. It is intriguing-exasperating, tho, right? Don

Especially liked GBK's blinking little icons. Or whatever you call those things.

As I didn't get the OK to use them, I probably shouldn't post how. Mark may ban me from the board.

Big pictures are "iffy" (I'd rather see links) since some people have limited bandwidth, but little icons are just fine.

I have ended up with some small containers of very old cork grease. In a couple instances, the stuff looked like golden vasoline. Any idea what used to be used in the 1920s & 1930s? Perhaps Omar can explain what makes the white stuff so creamy. (Omar uses a magic ingrediant in his. It is called 'quality'.)

Cork grease doesn't smell like it used to in the old days. In my mind I can still smell my first "can" of cork grease and it recalls my first lessons. (In the old days vaseline was gold color because it still had some of the coal tars in it.)
