 Improvising in Folkdance style.

Now that I've got all these great people, how do you start improvising in this style?

I don't have much tendancy toward being an ethno musicologist, so autheticity is not my goal. I just want to have fun, but I assume that improv is acceptable and would be interested in advice. What would an easy sort of tune to start on be?
