Hi Woodwinders,
I play in a "rock"-band (primarly alto sax, but also flute) and are in a need of a microphone. I have talked to some shops, and have found one, Sennheiser 608, it costs about 200£/EURO. In many ways it is a little expensive for me right now... Anyone here who have any experiences with mic's to woodwind?

hmm, micing a woodwind. depends on which woodwind. for the alto sax, you don't need a specific mic. it awesome to have one though. if you have a big mic that you speak into, have it set a few feet away depending on how loud you play. if it's a small mic, like one for an instrument, it's good for an alto to put it on the bell. for something like a flute or clarinet, it's good to have two, one at the bell and one about in the middle of the instrument, because of the acoustics of the instruments. hope this helps.

My favorite Sax Mic for live is made by Audio Technica. The ATM35pro is a nice sounding clipon and they hold up great too.
Check them out. The wireless is reasonable and uses the same mic on the end so if you end up wanting or needing a wireless later, you will have the same sound on either system. I have both and use the wired unless I have a big show which requires moving all over stage.
