on my new sheet music, there is a F (second octave *correct spelling?*) with what looks like a multiplacation sign inbetween it and another F (same octave) .. what does this mean?? do i hafta play a certain note?? please help!

The sign that looks like a multiplication sign is a double sharp.
So an F# is a half step up from the F natural.
The Fx is a half step up from the F# (i.e. a whole step up from the F natural). Therefore it is equivalent to playing a G natural.

the multiplication sign is a double sharp - you have to raise the 2nd f two half-steps, so it becomes a g. hope that helps!
