 Bassoonists and double-jointed fingers...

I've always been curious about this, because I'm double-jointed and play the bassoon semi-seriously...

I read somewhere that people with double-jointed fingers aren't supposed to play the bassoon, or they can, but they will have to work ten-times harder.

Is that true?
