I'm playing "First Suite In E-Flat for Military Band"-Gustav Holst, and I need help with a run. It starts on a d below the staff, and goes to an e-flat above the staff. I can't seem to go c-d-e flat-d-c all above the staff. Does anyone have any shortcut fingerings??

Hi,
What you can do, that should be easy enough, is play the regular high C and D (as shown on this site) and then for the high Eb, just press the pinky in your left hand (the Ab key). Hope this helps.

Actually high notes on the oboe can be quite pretty if done correctly. They have a sort of eerie tenseness to them that cuts right through. They sbsolutely must be even and in tune however to be effective, otherwise they just come out sounding rough. Depending on my reed I can get up to the stratospheric C or C#. But I tend to forget the fingerings for the B and Bb right below that. :) Meh.
