 Need quick help for G6!!
Author: gemini

I'm leaving for a gig tomorrow and I'm *still* having problems with this damn note! ;) I can hit both A6 and F6 just fine. You'd think I'd be able to nail the G6. But Nooooo-oohh!

Some stats:

JK EX 90 Tenor
Rovner EDII lig
Meyer HR 5 (maybe a 6, I can't recall at this second)

Also experiencing the problem when using the mpc and lig that JK included with the horn.

Reeds are Vandoren V16 #3, Vandoren Java #3.

I've been through ALL of the fingering sugguestions here on the WFG and while I *can* hit most of 'em, they all come out as A6! Quite frustrating.

The piece I'm doing calls for a sequence beginning with G6 F6 D6.. I'm probably going to end up playing it F6 E6 D6...

Any thoughts suggestions are most welcome!!

Yeah, I had that problem once, but I solved it using a little creative maneuvering. I planned to keep the E file artificially closed by placing my finger on E5. Still, I lost my peace of mind hereabouts, and spent lots of time developing a plan for breath. I hit upon one eventually. A4 also comes into consideration, but wait, E7! I sensed that my friend was eyeing B4 and was happy because it fell in with my plans. Little did I know that I was in for a G6!

Anyway, I hope that helps.

I'm not too good with the whole number/letter deal, do you mean G right on top of the staff? Because if you do, I have the same problem as you, i think. I can never play G, it comes out all wierd and disfigured. I have no idea what reeds im using, i think they are Rico 5 somethingoranother. Oh, I haven't figured out how to fix it yet. The only time it worked was when I asked my band director how to fix it, then it played PERFECTLY :(
