I have an R13 Buffet clarinet, and my friend has an E11. I've heard that the R13 is supposedly a better instrument, but how do the two compare?

The R13 is a better instrument in general. It is easier to play and produces a slightly better tone.

The R-13 is an internationally reknowned instrument. It is the choice of professionals around the world. The R-13 is considered and "advanced" or "professional" instrument, while I believe the E-11 is seen as an "intermediate" instrument. I have played on both, and the R-13 has superior tonal quality and ease of response, especially in the altissimo register. I think you'll find that you will get better sound on a R-13, but each player has their own preference, and I have a friend who would not trade her E-11 for anything. It's really up to you, which to you prefer?
