 Mouthpiece/Reed
Author: Carolyn

Recently I've decided to work on mastering the altissimo register for tenor sax. What brand/strength reed would be best for this? I have a Rauvner soft lig and a metal lig...which would be better? Also, I have the Jupiter mouthpiece that came with my sax when I bought it, and a Vandoren Java mouthpiece...which will help me get the notes out better?

hhmmmm...it could work on any reed depending on your skill level but i recommend 3 1/2. On the mouthpieces im not sure but it is easier to do altissimo on tenor than any other sax. I know this cuz i can play high g's and a's and my friend, could play his Bb major(concert Ab)three octaves
