High A and B on an oboe?
Author: Sammy

I keep seeing the HIGH A and B notes on oboe sheet music, but I don't know how to finger them. Anyone have any ideas? Tell me ASAP!

well,
-regular high A is left index and middle fingers, with 2nd octave key. For B, lift your middle finger. That's for B natural, not B-Flat.
If you mean screamingly high A and B,well, it beats the crap out of me.

For the high A, I know for sure you can use

B
0-3 | -23Eb
Ab

That's the side B natural and side Ab key I was trying to illustrate.

For the high B, I'm not so sure right off the bat, but there are a lot of fingerings under the alternate oboe fingerings on this site. Just click on the link at the top of this page and go to the oboe alternate fingerings page; you might find one there that works. I've been meaning to ask my teacher for some definitive fingerings for high B and Bb... though he says he can't remember himself half the time. :)
