i have an oboe reed that just can't seem to keep the spit out. the corking on the bottom of the reed is starting to come off, and the wetness is gargling the sound, i blow it out but i don't really know what it is. there is a slight slit in the reed but i had another reed that got a slit in one side and nothing like this ever happened!!!! is there any way to keep the corking on? =/

don't become too attached to your reeds...if it gets that bad, just pitch it.

I agree with d-oboe; if I had reeds doing that to me, they would get scrapped. Wait a minute, I do have reeds doing that to me! *Destroys reeds*

How long are you keeping your reeds? If it's longer than two weeks, you're playing on them too long, assuming you play everyday.
