Help, trying to play music with my son.

Howdy,
I'm a chord-level beginner guitarist and my 6th grade son has just completed one year of band playing a three valve baritone. Next year he will be playing a four valve Euphonium (as I understand it). I want very much to play with him at home but have been unable to find music that we can both play from. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Patrick

I myself am a college-level woodwind player, so I cannot help much. However, if your son is learning out of a method book with melodies, you should be able to write your own accompaniment. Most of the melodies in beginner-level method books are harmonically simple (usually the I, IV, and V chords of the key) and would be relatively easy to find the chords for. Good luck.

Jam & improvise with simple 12 bar blues would be a good start.
