 Low A on Tenor Sax

How can I Get a low A on my Tenor Sax without someone sticking their fist in the bell? I also heard that there is a fingering to get a low E FLAT on the B FLAT Soprano Clarinet.

I've seen people do one of two things on Bari at least. You can either roll up a piece of posterboard and stick it in, or stick your foot in the bell if you're sitting down. Either way, you're going to have to stick something down the bell since at low Bb you're limited by the length of the horn.

A low "A" is is only possible but partially covering the bell. Some bari saxes are made about a half a foot longer, and have an extra key for low A. If you're on the tenor, it only goes to Bb. Some disadvantages to this method of "low A" is that it is really hard to play in tune, it sounds muffled, and it looks REALLY DUMB. It is a better idea to play it an octave up, or just omit the note. Some Bb soprano clarinets, have an extended bell(The actual clarinet is longer by about 2-3 inches)which allows them to play a low Eb. Remember that it's not just adding an extra key that makes a lower note.

There is another way! Have you ever seen those trash cans that open up by stepping on the pedal to lift the lid? Though it would take some time and sweat, you can build a similar system that, by pressing a foot pedal, would lower a plate over the bell of the saxophone to just the right height in order for the A to play in tune. It would be cumbersome and require the sax to be in a rigid position, but it would work.
