 air in reed? fixable?
Author: oboe

Hey,

okay, when I blow into the reed I can feel air blowing out of it and hitting me. is there some way of covering up the parts where the air is coming out?? I JUST got this reed earlier today and I know it can't work that great if the air can't even get all the way through. Please help!
Thanks,

Corinne

that would be what we call a leak! if your reed leaks near the tube, then you can put some plastic wrap or teflon tape around the leak to seal it. If it leaks closer to the tip the reed either needs to be soaked a good long time, or turned into a tube again (i.e. break it!)
