octave key for middle D to Ab
Author: Brian Brown

I'm learning to play and the saxophone I purchased is wrong i think. When I play the basic fingering from middle D(octave key-1-2-3 - 1-2-3) to Ab(octave key 1-2-3 top key of the four middle ones) the octave key will not open. Is there an alternate fingering for each of those keys? Thanks and also is my saxophone broke.

NO! actually if you look a little further down the saxophone, you will notice a seperate octave key is opening. Once you reach A and above it will open. (Kinda the same as the oboe except one octave key does it all)
