hey i play the piccolo(duh) and i was wondering if any experienced players could tell me what piccolo would be a great intermediate piccolo for me and how much it costs and what you think about it. ive been playing for 7 years and ive beaten many many pro piccolists and it was all on a cheap plastic yamaha piccolo. also what would i expect when i played a wooden piccolo?
thanks for your superior knowledge!

"ive beaten many many pro piccolists"

I didn't know the piccolo was a weapon. An instrument should be for making music together, not for beating people with.

I was being mildly sarcastic. You should be making music together, not challenging each other!

"I didn't know the piccolo was a weapon"

LOL!!!!!!!!!!! ^_^ Oh I envy you, Piccolo Boy....I never beaten anyone in any instrument playing....be it piano(my WORST!!!!!!!!), saxophone and flute. Anyway c'gratz to you and keep it up. Sorry I don't know any good piccolos....as I don't play the piccolo(duh)...but from what I heard from the others, many say they love the Yamaha piccolos, and also stay away from those cheap chinese(Jinyin) piccolos which is up on e-bay.com recently...

Plastic piccolo does not really sound like a plastic, because the headjoint is still silver-plated, therefore very "metallic" sounded. Loud and clear. Whereas a wooden piccolo must sound like a wood because it has wooden headjoint. I already have the plastic yamaha, now I'm in market for a solid silver headjoint, nevermind the body.

The all silver piccolo's are good for marching band and so are the plastic body ones with the silver headjoint. The wooden ones are good for concerts and stuff like that because they project a warm, rich sound. It depends on if you are most likely going into marching or concert, and which one you prefer to play.
