Well, I would suggest this:
1) What is music
2) Get the feel of the instrument
3) Scales
4) whatever you think is ok and with the level of the student

1st of all u make them play an open g for as long as they can.
they need to learn how to blow into the clarinet.
practice sluring exercises with only 2 notes, preferably G-A
D-C
try to teach low notes and high notes equaly and show them how 2 scales have the same fingerings (Emag-Bmag)
then follow up by scales and scales in 3rds and up

Thank you! I played and played well, but never really learned the history of the instrument or how it is made or much about the clarinet itself! My teacher was great and gifted and our band was excellent. He just won a humanitarian award and teaches EMT as well as band, though he is retired from high school band. As a grown up it still is the hallmark of my life as my own accomplishments go and want to return to it and play in adult bands, alumni, community, etc and teach the clarinet.
