I was wondering if anyone out there has heard of a oboe maker of Berwal, or Benwal. I have a Oboe wooden oboe that has Made in france stamped on it, and the makers name was in a decail. Well, it must be a little bit old because the serial number is only BW3XX and the A flat-Bflat trill key is actually a hole that you open with a key. It is in the same place, but it is a hole or a lever instead of a mechanism. It is in great condition, I was just wanting to upgrade my oboe and I was jsut wondering if I was playing on a awesome oboe and shouldn't trade it in, or if I could get a pretty penny for it. Please e-mail me. Thanx.

i am selling an oboe for a friend who bought a benwal oboe used for 1500 from a musican repair shop here in indy. i have been recently doing some research on this. i dunno about your particular model, and im not a expert but from what i know benwal oboes are extreemly rare, they are no longer manufactured. Ben storch is the guy who made and started the co. It is made from all wood and is a symphony level oboe. theres not much upgrading you can do unless you go newer, but that is not neccessarily better. they dont make them like that anymore, and i do believe they were handmade. im still looking around for more info on them but that will get you started good luck
