just so you can hear the stories of the horrible eating while playing an instrumnet!

once there was a girl who decided to play clarinet while chewing gum....a week later a cockroach crawled out of her clarinet...

another clarinet left her reed on her mouthpiece everyday..never taking it off...never changing reeds...when she came back to school after summer she couldn't make a sound on her clarinet.. the band director took the ligature off and attempted to get the reed off...it wouldnt come off until he broke it...maggots had filled the entire mouthpiece because it had a sugar coating along the back of the reed...

a trumpet player decided to eat skittles(taste the rainbow) while playing....with in a few days of this she could barely make a sound on her horn....a week later some really gross skittles started shooting out of the bell....(feel the rainbow)

we also have mice in our band hall and they live in our cubbies.... all the trombones and flutes leave food in their cubbies and we have found mice in their cubbies eating their food...but what of thos e who leave their instrument cases open?

Here's another one:

Our trumpet soloist (pivotal part of the song) cleaned his trumpet for an hour and a half the night before our competition. We got there, and it came time for his solo, and his valve stuck. The song was ruined. Because of that (and some other things that went wrong) we got a three from all judges. (Luckily we saved face with a one on sight reading) Turns out he went to check his valve afterwards and gooey green cream of celery (I believe is what he said) had stuck it shut. His breakfast ruined our performance.

Here is another one...

We had a gig at a night club... I played for three hours not stopping, then wend for an *orange juice* then my favorite song came up and I asked to play it myself... well they said yes and when the song ended my share got cut... the bevarage reacted badly with the saxaphone polish...

Ew re maggots on the reed!

Always put oboe reeds in a proper case - I left mine in the plastic sleeve / cover thing and it went mouldy.

I have heard many horror stories about playing and eating...brushing your teeth before hand helps and also if you drink alcohol while playing (although I would not want to know why you would) drink low sugar ones

Once we were in Greece with the band and our duelling saxes had a little too much oozo. One of them was drunk and the other had a severe case of sugar glue...his lips had too much sugar on them and he could not use his embouchure properly...performance distaster.
