I can only succeed in getting this note out about one fourth of the time. Any suggestions? BTW, I have an Armstrong 80BE

Does your flute have the low B-foot key? On C-foots the C4 sometimes has trouble coming out. If you have the low B-foot, There's a small key next to the three botom keys that you've probably looked at and wondered, "Why in the world is that thing on here?" Use that small key when you play your C4, and it does wonders. (You might want to get your flute thoroughly cleaned and change pads too.) If you have only a C-foot, then I don't know what to tell you.

The only thing not already mentioned here is that youshould just practice getting it out every day! It osunds obvious, but I play all my notes (a full chromatic scale) every day just to keep my embrosure neat and to keep the notes in tune.

Are you referring to the lowest flute C or the fourth octave C? The reference, e.g., C4, is not standard.

I know about, and use the gizmo key, yet have trouble getting the high C out. I am a music major, and every semester have at least one piece which requires the high C.

If your pinky is on the eb/d# key, take it off. I had the same trouble but once I did that it came out wonderfully!
