There are a variety of barrels available to clarinet players. How does the barrel of the instrument affect the sound? Which type of barrel has had the most success?

For the most part, different barrels of different length affect intonation, longer barrel=lower pitch, shorter=higher pitch. Some players find that to tune their instrument correctly they may need a different length barrel. Also barrels come in different shapes, Conical barrels tend to give a warmer sound while cylindrical ones give a more piercing sound. I hope this helps.
