 Baritone Sax E# ??????
Author: Stephanie

I have an E# on my sheet music in several places. I can not find an E# on any fingering chart or book I have looked in. Is this a key on the sax? Thanks

E# is just another way of writing F.

Composers use E# as the name of the note when there is an F# in the scale, so that you can have E# and F# looking like separate notes in the music. But it is just F.

E# is just another way to write F natural. Same with B# is C. ;)

The fingering for an E# is the same as an F natural

Stephanie,

Of course you saw the answer to your question. Keep in mind, though, that E# is not the same as F; it just happens to be fingered the same as F.

Something that might help you in the future: Get to know your chromatic scale as well as possible - playing it and knowledge of it. If you know your chromatic scale you should never have a problem with figuring out fingerings, even double sharps and double flats.
