hi everybody whats goin on? its me again. lol i know im sorry but i cant stay away. ok so back to my topic- i was wondering if anybody knew an average chance of musicians becoming pro? like they do it for a living? i play tenor sax. and that is my goal to either play in a band (jazz preferrably) or be a director. i am really interested.any help would be greatly appreciated

about 0 sry dude, music is one of the worst professions if u want money, most advice is just do what oyu want to do and if u get a little money on the way thats nice. it all depends on how bad u want it, it don't just end up one way or another u can choose but u not gonna be famous

Oh... and to add more to Jon's question, and I need to hear back from you. Do you want to direct high school students (or college students, or middle school students)? If that, a music education degree is good. Though there are people out there who have a degree and have trouble finding a place to teach, I heard that odds are pretty good with that, especially if you go to a good music school. Performing is definitely harder, but it's still doable. You may or may not (depending on how good of a chance you get) have to get another job, or give private lessons to students. But who knows? Anything can really happen. I'm only in high school too, but I'm determined to make music a living for myself. And I hear from many that you need to be dedicated and ready to face challenges. So really, it's all up to you. Hope this helps.

My clarinet teacher's friend has this weird "trick" thing he apparently does with his students that want to get into music. He holds out his hand and asks the person, "Do you want to get into music as a career? Hit my hand." Then the person hits his hand and he apparently can tell whether or not they will be dedicated enough to have a career in music by the way that the person hits his hand...but anyways, I think it's great that people want to have a career in music, and while I'm not sure if hitting one's hand is a sure-fire way to tell, I think it's totally up to the person!

And if your really interested it help because in my class theres trumpet players who is not even interested and they can't even play a note yet.And by the way am the person named "hi" i decided to just put my name since i will spend moe time on this site cause before i only readed posts
