 Marching band--E-flat clarinet
Author: TxBandGurl08

I'm about to start marching band and I was thinking about switching from the B-flat clarinet to the E-flat clarinet but I don't know if I should do that because It would be my first year of marching band and first year to play E-flat clarinet. Should I switch? or keep playing the B-flat clarinet and wait to play the E-flat clarinet after marching band?

I play the e flat clarinet myself. I would stay with B flat clarinet because I don't think that the e flat clarinet is a marching band instrument. At least it's not in my marching band. The best thing to do though is to ask your director. Holp this helps~

the Eb clarinet is a marching band instrument. it's high and can pierce through the sound. it could be good to switch if there is music for it, and the band needs that sound. otherwise a Bb clarinet would be just fine. you might also want to stick with the Bb until you get the marching basics down. as to not overwhelm yourself. take a judgement about yourself, make a good decision if you can do both at the same time. hope this helps.
