 Easiest musical

Any votes for the easiest show book you've ever played?

My vote is for The Sound of Music. I played clarinet II and as I recall, 90% of the book was dotted half notes. And I think the hardest part was about two measures of tongued 16ths in Do-A-Deer.

(Nothing but dotted halves? Now that I think of it, perhaps that isn't too easy after all!)

I just finished this past weekend the easiest of the 20 shows I have done, which includes the SOUND OF MUSIC. It's a musical revue called THE MELODY LINGERS ON, the music and life of Irving Berlin. All of the more interesting and probably more difficult parts instrumenally were the dances and ALL of them were cut. The reed book in this show calls for Alto sax, clarinet, flute and piccolo. The piccolo as an instrument is challenging for me but the music itself was easy.
