I was browsing the woodwind and brasswind online store and saw a really great bargain on the Yamaha 52 clarinet. YCL52 Bb Clarinet #90102, to be exact. wwandbw is selling these for $449.00. If you're looking for a beginner or student who needs a good deal on a step-up instrument I don't think you could beat that price--unless these are dogs that have been returned and are not in tip-top condition. I paid $500.00 for a used one of these for my niece last year. Although I do prefer higher dollar instruments, she has excelled on this instrument with a Vandoren 5RV mouthpiece and Rovner lig. In fact, her teacher remarks quite often that her tone is "far and away" better than the kids playing on the plastic models.
Don't throw stones, now--because I have not seen one of these or played one--but just thought I'd share the find. I'm tempted to buy one to keep on hand for the next kid that wants a good start up instrument.

Brenda,
I also noticed this "close out" last week. I frequently check their B stock and used pages for good deals also.

I was just browsing sneezy.org and came across your letter. I am 14 I play the Bb clarinet and you are right that is a good deal I think it is nice that you would let others know about it.
Cheers!

Like I said, I'd be interested to see what these are like--if they've been play-tested a lot and look like demos.
