Interesting. I have a mid 20's Carl Fischer catalog that advertised such a creature. They called it a jazz clarinet. I've been wondering if any survived.

The Fischer catalog was pitching these clarinets for saxophone players to use when they doubled because they didn't need to worry about covering the open holes with their fingers and key layout was "more like" a saxophone. I'll have to dig it out and report on exact wording and price in 1925.
