Thumb Rest

My thumb rest on my R-13 has given me a lot of problems. Last summer it broke off and ripped the wood and I had to send it in to be repaired. But it is constantly wiggling and never stays still. I've checked all the screws and try to keep them tight but nothing helps. Its just really annoying and I'm afraid its going to crack the wood if it gets any looser. Is there any kind of repair that can be done to fix this?? Thanks.

It's odd that, after repair, it's still wiggling. If you continue to tighten/over-tighten the screws, the hole will soon loose its grip on the screws anyway.

The repair the first time: can you find out of the repair shop fixed the chip and then ordered a replacement thumb rest but used the same holes? The holes may have needed to be re-tapped, lined, or bigger thread screws used. If the shop just used bigger screws to grab the wood with the threads, the head of the screw may be too big for the countersunk metal around the screw-hole in the thumb rest, and although holds the rest on the clarinet, doesn't hold it tightly against the surface. Personally, (after resisting the testosterone rush to Super-glue it on) I'd bring it back for correction. It's an easy fix but a hugely annoying situation if left unattended.
