I noticed a thread on building a custom case. Very interesting but can anyone tell me where I could locate a case for an alto? I've looked through the Woodwind & Brasswind catalog and they don't seem to have anything appropriate or inexpensive. I'd prefer a 'stock' case and not have to build one. This is for a plastic alto. I'd think that the people who make the cases for the instrument manufacturers would make their ware available to the rest of us.

Try the SKB basic alto sax case. They sell for about $70 which is a bargain. It is really small and light with little room for accessories but very protective of the instrument. The neck and mouthpiece can be kept in a sack in the bell. I made an additional cutout with a razor blade and some black plush cloth for storage space for extra mouthpiece, tools, spare pads, and reeds. It is so handy and fits well in the luggage compartments on airplanes. The MKVI case was so heavy to carry. Good luck!

I think with an Alto clarinet you are more or less stuck with a case from Leblanc, Selmer or someone similar. I don't think it is economically viable for SKB, Hiscox or any of the other replacement case suppliers to make them. There is a Vito alto case which should be available through a dealer. the other option is to look into getting a road case made up. Alto clarinets are always problematic in this way as are C melody saxes.
