In response to a question from an eBay "regular" regarding how to change the rubber bumpers on these ligs, I thought "my method" might be of interest to some of you who may also be experiancing similar "bumper" frustration. (note that I do not use the "tool" that John supplies with all of his new ligs)
1) Mount the lig on your mpc (I use an old mpc and reed because, I'm a Klutz) and tighten until the c clamps are in a raised position above the back of the lig. The little c clamps (John Winslow calls them "Jesus clamps" because That is Who you call out to if you drop one on your carpet) are then easily removed by grabbing them on the backside with a small needle nosed pliers and simply pulling them straight off. For this proceedure, you need a firm grip on your mpc. (John uses a mpc with a reed taped in place)
2) Holding the lig/ mpc parallel with the ground with the large screw is on top, loosen the lig and carefully slide it off the mpc holding it level with the screw on top to prevent spilling the posts.
3) The posts are then easily removed and the old rubber bumpers replaced with new ones. Don't forget to use the lubricant that is supplied with the new lig--it helps preserve the lives of these little "rubbies."
4) Again, holding the main lig band level, with the screw up, re-position the posts in the lig band and carefully re-insert the mouthpiece and reed until in "playing position". At this point, the posts should not spil out if the mouthpiece is tilted.
5) After positioning, carefully re-tighten the lig until the posts are raised sufficiently high enough to allow re-insertion of the c clamps. Hold the c clamp with your pliers on the back side (with the "c" foreward) and simply push then back onto the posts until they snap tight into the post slot.
Bumper Exhange Misson Accomplished and you are ready to "gig." Hope this explanation is of use to someone. Good luck!!!!
