Yep, it's getting about that time again. So I was looking over our audition music, and a couple questions:
1) In the Klose book, page 146, line 4, measure 5...what in the world? I can't even hardly read it! What are those notes, and how do I play that measure exactly?
and
2)In klose, page 183, "Adagio" What is the tempo of this piece? Please tell me it is slow...there is no way I can play it fast with all those turns that i can't read anyway. What are those notes of the turn in line 2, measure 2? And how in the world do you play measure 1 on page 184?
I asked my director if she had a recording of these, but alas, she didn't, so here I am! Thanks,
Stephanie

You must specify which edition of the Klose you are quoting from. I checked the page and line #s you gave in my 1940 edition (Cundy-Bettoney) and found completely different material.

Stephanie -
I don't have my Klose book here, but the standard for Adagio is that you can subdivide the beat, but you don't have to. That is, you play just fast enough that it holds together without subdividing the beat.
Let us know the section and etude number in Klose, so we can look at it.
Best regards.

Stephanie,
By "can't hardly read it," do you mean you have a bad copy with smudges and smears, or is it difficult for you to figure out?
I looked in my Klose book, and you either must have a bad copy or a different edition because my page 146 line 4 measure 5 (top and bottom lines) was a cinch to read -- as in no tricky rhythms or note patterns.
Like Ken said, give the etude number instead of the page number.
