Somehow, the most fascinating line seems to be: "In May 1939, whilst playing at the assembly rooms in York, England, he sold it to one of the members of the band." Now that is truly odd. I never played a gig where an instrument was bought or sold. But, of course, perhaps I've just led a sheltered life. I can almost hear the echoes through history...

"Hey, Coleman, nice gig. You were really good tonight. Hey, man, sell me your ax."

"Sure, man, no problem."

Huh?

Regards,
John

Am I reading this right? They want 87,000 bucks for an old horn - and it needs pads too? That's about 170,000 in Aussie dollars. Yeh -I'll just get a second mortgage on my house and make a bid I think!

Hero worship is one thing - reality is another.

Oh, my, my, the thing is already over £8,000 with more than six days to go.

I have decided not to bid on this one. I'm going to wait and tap out my stocks and bonds when they auction off Mr. Acker Bilk's Clarinet... the very one he played for the recording of "Strangler on the Shore."

Regards,
John
