Clarinets from the 1790s

Just received a wonderful CD of clarinet music entitled: "Clarinet Music" (!). Anyway, featuring the Czech group "Pro Arte Antiqua Praha" with Jiri Krejci (classical clarinet). The interesting thing about this CD is that it features three clarinet quartets by Vaclav Pichl (1741-1805) - a Bohemian composer I hate to admit I'd not heard of. The music is typically classical and typically rustic (Czech) - charming indeed. Amazing what you can do on a five key instrument! email me if your interested in the company's URL.

diz, G'day! Are you saying they were playing on ancient instruments or modern replica's or 'today's slarinets but using only 5 keys?
If not original or replicas would not the sound be altered even though only five keys were used?
