I was just wondering if anyone has bought a wise man case. I know a lot of bassoonist have but I don't know any clarinetists who have purchased this case. If you have one, are you happy with it? Just curious. thanks

I have one of these case and I love it to death! It is a triple case which hold my B-Flat, E-Flat and A clarinets plus accesories. I have done some traveling with it and I have even be able to take it on airplanes since it fits so nicely in the back of the overhead compartment where nothing fits anyways. It kind of feels like you are wearing a rocket pack on your back but I love it. No one can ever figure out what kind of instrument is in the case so I get a lot of attention with it which I like!! I hope that I could help!

I have a Wiseman double case. Since I don't play my A clainet that much, I use it a lot as a single case. The case is very well made; it is made in the form of a tube with hinges in the middle; one clarinet goes on each side of the tube. The inside is very high quality velour fabric, and the oustide is black leather. It is about the same weight as an attache style double case, but is somewhat bulkier. When he first saw it, one of my friends said that it looked like it could be dropped from the top of a 10 story building and still survive. It does provide great protection for your instruments, and, as the prior post notes, it does attact a lot of attention. The only downside is that Wiseman cases are very expensive.

I use a wiseman case for my bass clarinet and it has been the best investment i have ever made. I am never hassled anymore when I get on planes with my bass. The standard bass cases have about a 50% chance of being forced to go into the luggages hold, which needless to say is unexceptable. Especially after the 9/11 stuff the airlines have become more fanatical and much less accomadating towards musicians(i know i wondered if that was even possible, but sadly it was).
The bass clarinet version of the wiseman can hold both your Bb and A but i don't recomend that for weight issues alone make that difficult.. but it is best if only one of the "little" clarinets goes in the wiseman... for me usually the Eb.

Ok hope this was helpful.

Cheers
bob
